Civil Construction Project Engineer
Position: Project Engineer, Heavy Civil / Highway
Location: Tampa Bay, FL area

A well-established heavy civil contractor with a strong presence in Florida is seeking a Project Engineer to work on highway and bridge projects in the Tampa Bay area.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in heavy civil projects, such as Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Office Engineers, or Assistant Project Managers, who are looking to work on larger projects and advance to a Project Manager role.
The responsibilities of this role include supporting project management and field operations on various infrastructure projects, particularly those with FDOT involvement. Candidates from Tampa and those willing to relocate to Florida are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support project managers and superintendents on heavy civil projects
- Handle RFIs, submittals, drawings, approvals, and project documentation
- Track costs, quantities, production, and schedules
- Schedule work activities and material deliveries
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and change orders
- Communicate with stakeholders, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Spending time in the field overseeing project progress
- Ensure safety, quality, and contract compliance
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of engineering experience on heavy civil projects
- Strong knowledge of RFIs, submittals, documentation, cost tracking, and scheduling
- Ability to interpret plans, specs, and contract documents
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Experience with FDOT or other DOT projects is advantageous
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, HCSS, or Bluebeam is a plus
- EIT or PE certification is preferred; Spanish language skills are a bonus
- Tampa Bay candidates preferred; relocation candidates welcome
