2nd Shift Operations Manager – Food Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced and proactive leader to take on the role of Evening Operations Manager at our fast-paced, high-output packaging facility in Pleasant Grove, UT. As our previous manager has been promoted and our company is undergoing expansion, we require fresh leadership to maintain and enhance our current momentum.

As the Evening Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a large team of production professionals, ensuring that schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and effective communication is established across all departments. Summary

  • Full second shift schedule: 3 PM – 11 PM
  • Strong cross-functional support from quality, logistics, and leadership teams
  • Streamlined plant with established safety and compliance procedures
  • Preference for local candidates; relocation may be considered individually

Responsibilities

  • Lead second shift operations across multiple production lines, ensuring that production goals are achieved without compromising safety or quality
  • Manage and supervise four shift supervisors and oversee a team of 90-100 members to maintain productivity, flow, and morale
  • Work closely with the first shift team to facilitate a smooth transition, prioritize tasks, and address any challenges
  • Monitor shift KPIs such as output, waste, and labor hours, making necessary adjustments as needed
  • Coordinate with the warehouse and QA teams to uphold product integrity and adhere to the production schedule
  • Lead performance discussions and daily huddles, fostering a culture of trust and accountability within the team
  • Utilize ERP systems and reporting tools to track labor efficiency, downtime, and materials usage
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety and workplace standards, preparing for audits as required

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Preferred BS/BA degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing production teams, preferably in a fast-paced or food manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in leading multi-line operations with large hourly teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead effectively under pressure
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to coach and mentor others, make data-informed decisions, and maintain smooth and responsive shift operations
