Job Title: Accounting Clerk

Location: Uniondale, NY

Our client is a leading mid-sized law firm with offices around the tri-state. They are currently seeking a full-time Accounting Assistant for their Uniondale, NY office (located in central Nassau county). This position will report to and assist the Accounting Manager. The role is a hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, working from 9am to 5pm. The salary for this role is $50,000-60,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and categorize vendor invoices with proper authorization.
  • Enter vendor invoices into the Aderant accounting system.
  • Process vendor payments, obtain check signatures, and mail out payments.
  • Review vendor statements.
  • Investigate payment inquiries.
  • Research uncashed checks and issue replacements when necessary.
  • Process journal entries.
  • Assist with matter maintenance in Aderant.
  • Record incoming wire transfers.
  • Prepare check deposits and record them in Aderant.
  • Process client credit card payments.
  • Investigate incoming payments with no remittance information.
  • Assist with trust/escrow activity.
  • Handle ad hoc requests and special projects.

Experience:

  • College degree or currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with Aderant or Chrome River is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
