Adhesive Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA
We are currently seeking an Adhesive Engineer with experience in film, tape, or thermoset materials. This position is located in Irvine, CA.
In this role, the Adhesive Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting the commercialization of new adhesive film formulations and products. They will lead multiple R&D projects that are critical to the business and ensure that project milestones are achieved in a timely manner.
Overview of the Adhesive Engineer position:
- Identify opportunities for new technologies, products, or performance enhancements.
- Share specialized knowledge with the organization.
- Identify and engage valuable external partners.
- Interact and communicate directly with external customers to identify, qualify, close, and maintain product applications.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across different time zones, including members from product development, project management, application engineering, process engineering, marketing, and sales.
- Serve as a consultant for management and steering committees.
- Conduct all laboratory work safely, in compliance with regulations, safety precautions, PPE requirements, and 5S processes.
- Secure intellectual property in the field of development.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on projects and technologies for internal teams, management, and customers.
- Travel with sales representatives to gain a firsthand understanding of customer needs and application details.
Requirements for the Adhesive Engineer position:
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience.
- Experience in applying tape and film adhesives for electronic applications, working with thermoset materials, or formulating adhesives for electronic materials is required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude, able to work independently and contribute creatively to team collaboration.
- Experience in customer support and providing product application training.
- Demonstrated skills in project management and laboratory work.
- Experience in training and mentoring laboratory employees.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis using JMP.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
