Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

A well-established and expanding company located in Atlanta, GA, has an exciting opportunity for a Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of supplier production processes and part qualifications (APQP), with a focus on Lean Manufacturing, creating a defect-free environment, and preventing re-occurrences. This position also includes approving and developing new suppliers and technologies. We offer excellent company benefits, bonus potential, and up to 2% profit sharing. This position involves acting as a technical liaison between the purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier departments to address quality issues, implement and oversee advanced quality planning, and provide support using independent judgment within standard practices. You will also be responsible for approving purchased parts for mass production.

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers
  • Ensure suppliers understand product and submission requirements
  • Review and approve supplier quality plans for new part programs
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Implement and oversee the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
  • Provide training in Lean Manufacturing and support Kaizen activities related to process and systems development
  • Determine the root cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
  • Improve the quality performance of assigned suppliers
  • Maintain required documentation and files
  • May determine part critical characteristics and required process controls
  • May review tool, fixture, and part designs
  • May participate as a member or resource in product development teams

Up to 30% travel, which may include week-long trips with short notice, is required for this role.


Education / Experience:

A 4-year degree or equivalent experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment is required, along with at least 2 years of related experience. If you do not have a degree, you must have at least 8-10 years of related experience. Experience in supplier quality engineering is necessary, and advanced supplier quality engineering experience with new product engineering and process changes is preferred.
