Air Quality Compliance Specialist – Morgantown, WV
Our client, a rapidly expanding company involved in oil and gas exploration and production in the Appalachian Basin, is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Air Quality Compliance Specialist to assist with ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across operations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. This position primarily involves working in the field and will require extensive travel to various drilling, completion, and production sites, as well as gathering pipeline locations. The role can be based in either Morgantown, WV or Marietta, OH.
Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct inspections using FLIR cameras to detect and address leaks in accordance with relevant state (e.g., Ohio EPA, PA DEP) and federal (e.g., NSPS OOOOa, OOOOb) air regulations at oil and gas facilities.

Maintain precise and comprehensive records of inspections, repairs, and corrective actions in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Perform minor repairs and maintenance on emission control equipment, such as replacing gaskets, thief hatches, and other small mechanical components.

Collaborate with Production, Operations, and Regulatory teams to identify and resolve air compliance issues, particularly during drilling and completion SIMOPS.

Review inspection data for quality assurance and quality control purposes, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and organizing data within internal digital systems.

Independently plan and manage daily site visits, with travel expectations of 70–80% throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania (including overnight stays).

Complete office-based tasks (approximately 20–30% of the role) such as data entry, report generation, and preparation of compliance documentation.

Strictly adhere to all safety policies and actively participate in training and safety meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference for an Associate’s degree in environmental science, engineering technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience of 2+ years in environmental or oil and gas field work will be considered as well.

At least two (2) years of relevant field experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry.

Hands-on experience using monitoring tools and basic knowledge of equipment such as compressors, gas turbines, and pumps.

Familiarity with upstream oil and gas operations and relevant air compliance standards.

Prior experience using FLIR cameras for inspections and leak detection is mandatory.

Solid understanding of federal and state air quality regulations, especially 40 CFR Part 60 Subparts OOOOa and OOOOb.

Self-motivated individual with excellent time management and prioritization skills, capable of working independently in remote locations.

Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating professionalism when engaging with internal teams and external partners.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and adaptable to using company-specific data management systems.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record that aligns with company standards.
Work Environment:

Comfortable working in diverse outdoor conditions and navigating rugged terrain approximately 70–80% of the time.
