Air Quality Technician
Air Compliance Technician – Oil & Gas | Morgantown, WV or Marietta, OH (Field-Based)
Our client, a growing oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in the Appalachian Basin, is seeking a diligent and safety-minded individual to fill the role of Air Compliance Technician. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure regulatory compliance across operations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. As an Air Compliance Technician, you will be based in either Morgantown, WV or Marietta, OH and will be required to travel extensively to various drilling, completion, and production sites, as well as gathering pipeline locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections using FLIR cameras to detect and repair leaks on oil and gas facilities, in accordance with state and federal air regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of all inspections, repairs, and corrective actions to meet regulatory requirements and company policy.
- Perform field-level repairs and maintenance on emission control equipment, such as replacing gaskets and mechanical components.
- Collaborate with Production, Operations, and Regulatory teams to identify and resolve air compliance issues during drilling and completion operations.
- Review inspection data to ensure accuracy and completeness, and organize data within internal systems.
- Plan and manage daily site visits, with travel expectations of 70–80% throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.
- Complete office-based tasks, including data entry, report generation, and preparing compliance documentation.
- Follow all safety policies and actively participate in training and safety meetings.
Ideal Background:
- Associate’s degree in environmental science, engineering technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent experience in environmental or oil and gas field work will also be considered.
- At least two (2) years of relevant field experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Hands-on experience using monitoring tools and basic knowledge of equipment like compressors, gas turbines, and pumps.
- Strong familiarity with upstream oil and gas operations and related air compliance standards.
- Prior experience using FLIR cameras for inspections and leak detection activities is mandatory.
- Solid understanding of federal and state air quality regulations, especially 40 CFR Part 60 Subparts OOOOa and OOOOb.
- Self-starter with excellent time management and independent work abilities in remote environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and adaptable to using company-specific data management systems.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record that meets company standards.
Work Environment:
- Must be comfortable working in diverse outdoor conditions and navigating rugged terrain approximately 70–80% of the time.
- The remaining 20–30% of the role will be performed in an office setting.
