Ammonia Refrigeration Specialist - 2 Open Positions

Our established and well-known company, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, is seeking experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Specialists to join our team on the night shift. We offer a dynamic and impactful work culture.

Shift:

  • Night shift - 6:15 PM - 6:45 AM
  • 4 days on, 4 days off

Compensation:

  • Starting pay: $34 per hour with shift differentials for night shifts - 2nd shift (additional $0.25 per hour) and 3rd shift (additional $0.30 per hour). Overtime pay of time and a half for hours worked over 8 hours in a day. Our comprehensive benefits package includes relocation assistance. An employee working a 12-hour shift will receive $40.25 per hour plus shift differentials.

Responsibilities:

This role involves performing the following essential duties satisfactorily.

Additional duties may also be assigned.

  • Adhering to safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrating strong knowledge, judgment, and maintaining high standards of work quality
  • Operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, testing, adjusting, and maintaining utility systems
  • Completing progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
  • Communicating effectively in written and verbal form
  • Troubleshooting equipment and processes to ensure continuous operations across shifts
  • Supporting weekly work order schedules as directed by the Facilities Maintenance Planner
  • Using CMMS (SAP PM) to accurately document and track work order hours and execution
  • Collaborating with vendors and outside contractors for equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Participating in daily shift change meetings and supporting Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activities through the company performance system
  • Being available for overtime, flexible work hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Performing other assigned duties

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience as a stationary engineer, in industrial maintenance, commercial HVAC, or equivalent military roles
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with demonstrated troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training within 6 months
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia Operator 1 training and certification within 6 months
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia Operator 2 training and certification within 12 months
  • Willingness to work in a union environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • High mobility, including walking on flat surfaces and stairs, and quick response to facility emergencies
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Capability to work on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  • Ability to work in environments with varied temperatures and noise levels
  • Must pass respirator testing annually for PSM
