Ammonia Refrigeration Technician – Two (2) Open Positions

A well-established and reputable company located in Greenwood, Indiana is seeking talented individuals to join their team as Ammonia Refrigeration Technicians. These positions are available for the night shift in a plant environment. The company fosters a dynamic and impactful work culture.

Shift:

  • Night shift - 6:15 PM to 6:45 AM
  • Four (4) days on, four (4) days off

Compensation:

  • Starting pay: $34 per hour
  • Night shift differentials: 2nd shift ($0.25 per hour), 3rd shift ($0.30 per hour)
  • Overtime pay: Time and a half for hours worked over 8 hours in a day

  • Pay for a 12-hour shift: $40.25 per hour, including shift differentials

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In order to succeed in this position, the individual must perform each essential duty with excellence.

Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge, judgment, and commitment to maintaining high standards for quality of work
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, test, adjust, and maintain the facility's utilities systems
  • Complete progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) in all aspects of daily work
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes, ensuring steady-state operations and continuity across multiple shifts
  • Support weekly work order schedules as arranged by the Facilities Maintenance Planner
  • Utilize CMMS (SAP PM) to accurately document and track work order hours and execution
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs with vendors and outside contractors, in collaboration with the Planner and Management
  • Active participation or leadership in daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings
  • Support Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas, actively participating in continuous improvement activities through the company performance system
  • Ability to work overtime and/or adjust work hours as required, including weekends and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 2 years of experience as a stationary engineer, industrial maintenance worker, commercial HVAC technician, or equivalent military experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training and successfully complete it within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 1 training and obtain certification within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 2 training and obtain certification within 12 months

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Highly mobile, with extensive walking on flat surfaces and up/down stairs, and quick response to emergency situations at the facility
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform work on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment with varied temperatures
  • Must be able to pass annual respirator testing for PSM
  • Must be comfortable working in a union environment
