Ammonia Refrigeration Specialist – 2 openings

A well-established and renowned company located in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking direct hire Ammonia Refrigeration Specialists for the night shift. The company operates in a plant environment and offers a dynamic and influential culture.

Shift:

  • Night shift: 6:15 PM - 6:45 AM
  • 4 days on, 4 days off

Salary:

  • Starting pay is $34 per hour with additional shift differentials for night shifts (2nd at $0.25 per hour and 3rd at $0.30 per hour).
  • Overtime pay at time and a half for hours worked over 8 hours a day.

  • Hourly pay of $40.25 (including shift differential) for a 12-hour shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To excel in this role, the individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty.

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compliance with safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrating expertise and maintaining high standards for quality of work
  • Operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, testing, adjusting, and maintaining the facility's utilities systems
  • Completing progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) in all aspects of daily work
  • Troubleshooting equipment and processes, ensuring steady-state operations and continuity across multiple shifts
  • Supporting work order schedules arranged by the Facilities Maintenance Planner
  • Utilizing CMMS (SAP PM) for accurate documentation and tracking of work order hours and execution
  • Collaborating with vendors and outside contractors, under the guidance of the Planner and Management, for equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Active participation or leadership in daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings
  • Supporting Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas, and actively participating in continuous improvement activities through the company performance system
  • Ability to work overtime and/or flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Performing other assigned duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience as a stationary engineer, in industrial maintenance, commercial HVAC, or equivalent military experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with demonstrated troubleshooting and repair experience in electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training within 6 months
  • Certification in GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 1 within 6 months
  • Certification in GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 2 within 12 months
  • Willingness to work in a union environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • High mobility, involving extensive walking on flat surfaces and stairs, with quick response to facility emergencies
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Capability to perform work on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  • Comfortable working in a noisy environment with varied temperatures
  • Annual passing of respirator testing for PSM
