Transportation Assistant Manager
Position Title: Assistant Transportation Manager
Exempt Status: Exempt
Accountable To: Transportation Manager
Job Summary: The Assistant Transportation Manager will lead, train, and develop our Class A
Delivery Drivers at our various locations - all while improving delivery
efficiency, and providing support as needed to the transportation
department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Foster positive and professional relationships with drivers, serving as a role model
and a resource to them.
• Ensure compliance with all DOT safety regulations for drivers.
• Coordinate and maintain delivery equipment in proper working order to meet DOT
compliance.
• Plan, route, and execute deliveries accurately.
• Train new drivers and provide necessary support.
• Introduce and train on new procedures and technology.
• Fill in for absent team members, including management and routing.
• Assist in managing department expenses and overtime.
• Strategize and independently resolve problems.
• Display strong leadership qualities and build relationships with each transportation
team member.
• Perform assigned administrative duties as directed by the Transportation Manager.
• *This position requires travel to various depots to collaborate with drivers, review
deliveries, safety procedures, and DOT requirements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Valid Class A Driver's license.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills within a team.
• Meets or exceeds Core Values
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with routing and delivery processes.
• Proficiency in email and internet applications.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processing.
Education & Experience:
• Extensive knowledge of DOT Compliance and Regulations.
• Minimum of five years in foodservice warehouse and/or transportation management
required (combination of other education/experiences will also be considered)
