Defense Litigation Lawyer

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary attorney on civil litigation defense cases
  • Handle all stages of litigation, including discovery, depositions, court appearances, mediations, and pre-trial preparation
  • Collaborate with partners and clients to develop case strategies and achieve resolutions
  • Draft legal documents such as motions and correspondence
  • Participate in trial preparation and proceedings as needed
  • Regularly update clients on case progress
  • Utilize a legal assistant for administrative assistance

Requirements

  • Active California law license
  • Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience (plaintiff or defense side)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with court rules, calendaring, and civil procedure in state and federal courts
  • Ability to independently manage caseloads and meet billable hour targets
