Vehicle Repair Technician
Location: Rochester Hills, MI
We are seeking to hire a highly skilled automotive technician to maintain and service customers' vehicles. The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical abilities and adhere to all safety procedures and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing necessary repairs.
- Communicating with the parts department to obtain required components.
- Carrying out assigned work as outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Inspecting assigned vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is necessary or recommended.
- Immediately communicating with service advisors if additional work is required, if the outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Documenting all performed and recommended work on repair orders, including an accurate and legible customer complaint, cause, and corrective actions taken.
- Conducting road tests on vehicles before and after necessary repairs or referring them to the shop foreman.
- Returning repair orders to the dispatch office at the end of each workday.
- Participating in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Attending department meetings and on-site factory training sessions.
- Supervising the work of assigned apprentice technicians.
- Reporting any machinery defects or malfunctions to a supervisor.
- Maintaining and being responsible for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to their proper place in the same condition as received.
- Understanding, staying updated on, and complying with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Reporting any safety issues immediately to management.
- High school graduate or equivalent, 18 years or older required. Acceptable driving record and a valid driver's license in your state of residence necessary for select roles. We are a drug-free workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunity.
