Building Control Systems Engineer
Location: Hartford, CT
Our client in Hartford, CT is currently seeking a skilled Building Control Systems Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to work independently under the guidance of the Operations and Engineering Manager, focusing on engineering new DDC projects and supporting various building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for system programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning, while ensuring high-quality service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- System Programming & Engineering:
- Engineer and implement new Direct Digital Control (DDC) projects.
- Program, monitor, and install building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC and integrated systems.
- Maintain and update the graphical web interface for system monitoring and diagnostics.
- Troubleshooting & Commissioning:
- Identify and resolve issues with HVAC and computer/controller systems.
- Conduct system testing and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and integration.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Compile and manage as-built drawings, closeout documentation, and system records.
- Ensure systems adhere to design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborative Work:
- Work independently and as part of a project team to meet project deadlines.
- Effectively communicate with customers and team members to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain high standards of quality.
Qualifications:
- Required Skills:
- Ability to interpret and understand construction documents.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities to differentiate between HVAC and computer/controller issues.

- Required Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of programming experience, preferably five (5) years.
- Prior experience with building automation systems, specifically HVAC, is essential.
- Educational Requirements:
- A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology is advantageous.
- Certifications & Skills:
- Tridium AX certification is highly desired.
- Experience with temperature control systems such as Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Schneider, and Siemens is beneficial.
- Familiarity with BACnet, DDC, Niagara AX, ALC, Siemens, or Metasys is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Visio, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and PDF software is a plus.
