Position Overview:
This role will be responsible for leading the business development efforts in two practice areas—Insurance and Labor/Employment Law. A significant portion of your responsibilities will involve writing proposals, responding to RFPs, and developing pitches for both new prospects and existing clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be proficient in technology, and possess strong analytical skills to produce high-quality, error-free work.
You’ll work closely with practice group leaders, attorneys, and administrative departments to ensure all business development projects align with client needs and firm goals. While the role is internally focused, you’ll serve as a vital resource for the firm's internal teams, primarily working on knowledge management, proposal development, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Business Development Efforts: Take charge of business development for the Insurance and Business (Construction) practice areas by creating compelling proposals and RFP responses to secure high-value deals.
- Proposal and Pitch Development: Oversee the entire process of creating major proposals and pitches, ensuring they are customized to address client needs and delivered within deadlines.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate closely with practice leaders, attorneys, and administrative teams to gather insights and data that will inform business development strategies.
- Data and Market Analysis: Conduct research on companies, markets, and industries to craft strategic pitches and keep the firm competitive in the market.
- Efficiency and Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance proposal processes, improving efficiency and the quality of output.
Success Factors:
- Producing error-free, high-quality proposals and RFPs.
- Meeting or exceeding deadlines for all business development initiatives.
- Collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders, including lawyers and practice group leaders.
- Creating efficiencies by improving existing processes and workflows.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-7 years of business development experience: Focus on proposal and pitch development. Experience in legal services or large law firms is highly preferred.
- A stable work history: Demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Strong writing and communication skills: Meticulous attention to detail.
- Tech-savvy: Competent in analyzing data and utilizing CRM, experience management, and new technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree: In Marketing, Communications, Analytics, or a related field. An MBA, J.D., or Master’s degree is a plus.
- Ability to work in Tampa, New Orleans, or Houston: Occasional travel (up to 20%) depending on location.
