Legal Services Development Manager

Our client, a leading international legal services firm, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Services Development Manager to join their Marketing and Business Development team. Position Overview:
This role will be responsible for the development of two practice areas—Insurance and Business (with a core focus on construction within the Business practice). A significant portion of your responsibilities will involve writing proposals, responding to RFPs, and developing pitches for both new prospects and existing clients. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be tech-savvy, and be adept at analyzing data and asking the right questions to produce high-quality, error-free work.

You’ll collaborate closely with practice group leaders, attorneys, and administrative departments to ensure all business development projects align with client needs and firm goals. While the role is internally focused, you’ll serve as a vital resource for the firm's internal teams, working primarily on knowledge management, proposal development, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Business Development Efforts: Serve as the primary Business Development lead for the Insurance and Labor/Employment Law practice areas, helping the firm secure high-value deals through compelling proposals and RFP responses.
  • Proposal and Pitch Development: Manage the end-to-end process of major proposal and pitch creation, ensuring each submission meets deadlines and is customized to address client needs.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with practice leaders, attorneys, and administrative teams to gather insights and data that will inform business development strategies.
  • Data and Market Analysis: Research companies, markets, and industries to craft strategic pitches and ensure the firm remains competitive in the market.
  • Efficiency and Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance proposal processes, moving from “good to great” in both efficiency and quality of output.

Success Factors:

  • Producing error-free, high-quality proposals and RFPs.
  • Meeting or exceeding deadlines for all business development initiatives.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders, including lawyers and practice group leaders.
  • Creating efficiencies by improving existing processes and workflows.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5-7 years of business development experience with a focus on proposal and pitch development. Experience in legal services/large law firms is highly preferred.
  • A stable work history demonstrating reliability and commitment.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to analyze data and leverage CRM, experience management, and new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Analytics, or a related field. An MBA, J.D., or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Ability to work in Tampa, New Orleans, or Houston, with occasional travel (up to 20%) depending on location.
