SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Cath Lab / Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Tech to perform and assist in direct/indirect patient care and procedures under physician supervision. Your primary responsibilities will involve pre, intra, and post cardiac, vascular, and interventional procedures. With your critical thinking skills, you will ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients. Additionally, you will document accurately and promptly, as well as communicate and collaborate with other healthcare team members. Adherence to organizational policies, regulatory/accrediting body requirements, and professional practice standards is crucial.
SOME RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assisting the physician in invasive procedures, such as cardiac cath, vascular angiograms, stenting, permanent and temporary pacemaker implants, and other procedures.
- Evaluating and documenting patient history information, including indications/diagnosis, clinical presentation, height and weight, allergies, lab results, current medications, heart rate, blood pressure, rhythm, pain, respirations, pulse oxygenation, peripheral pulses, patient concerns, NPO status, patient consent verification, and level of consciousness.
- Initiating and maintaining IV access as instructed.
- Administering oxygen according to orders.
- Applying principles of sterile technique.
- Providing appropriate post-procedure and discharge instructions to patients, their significant others, or caregivers.
- Developing, revising, and analyzing an action plan for completing procedures.
- Conducting glucometer testing following policy and procedure.
- Monitoring EKG.
- Performing radiographic procedures and operating radiographic equipment to produce angiographic, digital, and other specialized images (ARRT only).
- Injecting and administering prescribed medications under direct presence and supervision of the performing physician, including moderate sedation medications and cardiac medications during cath lab suite procedures or patient room procedures such as transesophageal echos.
- Delivering safe interventions in an organized, efficient, and prioritized manner to address patient needs.
- Collaborating and communicating effectively with team members, physicians, and other healthcare providers to coordinate medical and nursing plans of care.
- Providing relevant healthcare education and instructions regarding treatments and procedures, including pre/post hospital care, to patients and family members as appropriate.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of an accredited radiology technology program with a focus on anatomy, physiology, radiation physics, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Possession and maintenance of a current radiographer license from the Ohio Department of Health and A.R.R.T. registry as an R.T.
- Preferred: Advanced Registry from A.R.R.T. in Cardiovascular (CV), Cardiac Intervention (CI), or Vascular Intervention (VI).
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.
- ACLS required within one year.
- Preferred: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
The department has an excellent team, and the director is widely respected. This position offers full-time hours between 8am-5:30pm, with an on-call rotation one day a week and every fourth weekend. Salary is in the range of $60,000-$90,000 depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package is included.
