Night Shift Schedule:
- Monday - Friday: 11pm - 7am (alternating weekends and holidays)
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 7pm - 7am
We are seeking a skilled CAT Scan Technologist to perform routine and specialized medical imaging procedures. In this role, you will prepare patients for procedures, assist radiologists, operate and maintain equipment, and process images. Compliance with established radiology standards of care and principles of radiation protection is essential to ensure patient safety. You will also take on responsibilities assigned to your area, participate in quality assurance activities, and provide exceptional customer service.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
- Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations and ensure proper documentation.
- Produce high-quality technical images and review completed exams for accuracy.
- Assist physicians during procedures as required.
- Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations.
- Work in emergency situations and provide coverage during on-call, holiday, and overtime shifts.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories.
- Process images and print CDs, if necessary.
- Carry out routine office duties such as answering phone calls and documenting patient information.
- Coordinate patient transportation to and from the department.
- May act as an instructor or preceptor.
- Uphold professional and courteous behavior with patients and staff.
- Introduce yourself, use patient identifiers, and explain exams to patients and their families.
- Meet the needs of patients across different age groups.
- Perform New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Adapt to changes in duties and hours as required.
- Provide coverage for the emergency department when on standby/call.
- Perform department-specific protocols and adhere to policies.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
- NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
- ARRT registered (RT) and certified in radiography (R), computed tomography (CT), and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT).
- Demonstrated training and experience operating CT equipment and knowledge of radiation physics and protection.
- Advanced CT examination/certification completion within 1 year of hire.
- Continuing education to meet standards set by governing bodies.
- DOH IV certification preferred or completion of 6-month orientation.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire.
- Radiation dose pledge for Image Gently and Image Wisely through the ACR.
