Sterilization Technician

TITLE: Central Sterile Technician(CRCST) / Sterile Processing Tech

What they are seeking:
• Must hold certification as a Central Service Technician from a nationally recognized organization, or obtain it within one year of employment
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification is required
Working hours and compensation:
• This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 11am to 7:30pm (every 4th weekend 'on call' is required)
• Salary range is between $19 per hour to $28 per hour, depending on experience and benefits. Additionally, a $10,000 sign-on bonus is being offered.
Main responsibilities include:
• Participating in and performing decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, scanning, storage, and distribution of reusable instruments and equipment
• Adhering to organizational policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and accrediting body requirements, and professional practice standards (e.g. OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORW, IAHCSMM, and The Joint Commission)
• Demonstrating competency in identifying specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment specific to surgical services
• Monitoring supply usage in the Central Sterile area and adjusting par levels as necessary
• Decontaminating, cleaning, reprocessing, and sterilizing instruments according to standards and manufacturer's recommendations
• Maintaining a clean work area
• Identifying, inspecting, ordering, receiving, processing, storing, disassembling, cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing sterile instruments
• Properly loading and unloading sterilized items
• Keeping accurate sterilization records
• Reprocessing endoscopes according to manufacturer's recommendations
• Conducting routine biological testing of sterilization equipment
• Verifying the functionality of instruments, requisitioning repairs or replacements with Department Director approval, and removing defective instruments from service
• Tracking instruments sent out for repair and collaborating with the Perioperative Supply and Equipment Specialist to arrange loaner equipment when necessary
• Providing in-services and acting as a resource for staff regarding new instruments
