Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certified OR Tech (CST-NCCT) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

The Operating Room at our hospital, located within a Level 1 Trauma Center, promotes a collaborative team environment and provides opportunities to learn complex procedures in all specialty areas. We also offer a clinical ladder for Surgical Technologists.

Responsibilities:
Assist the surgical team during operations. Set up and inventory sterile supplies for procedures and provide them to the operative team as needed. Assist in patient preparation and movement, as well as cleaning the operating rooms. The Surgical Technician is responsible for delivering surgical care to achieve identified patient outcomes and the goals of the facility, as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-High School Diploma program
  • Graduation from a Surgical Technologist program

Certification and Licensure

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate should have previous experience as a Surgical Technologist. We are open to considering Surg Techs with experience in any specialty; however, we are specifically seeking an experienced cardiac Surg Tech. Candidates must have at least 1 year of Surgical Tech experience and must have graduated from a Surgical Technology program. If not certified, candidates must meet state guidelines for exemption.
