Manufacturing Engineer (Electrode Processing)

Role Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and managing successful processes in Electrode Production and Processing for Battery Manufacturing.

Key Role Facets and Activities:

  • Create designs for electrode fabrication processes and implement equipment used in Li-ion and CFx cell manufacturing
  • Develop and enhance key processes, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and SPC principles, with a focus on Quality, Delivery, and Repeatability. This includes activities such as powder mixing, slurry mixing, web coating, and calendering
  • Utilize structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
  • Drive process, productivity, and quality improvements through measurement, detailed analysis, and sustained improvement using process control methods
  • Collaborate with R&D and New Product Development teams to transfer new processes into the electrode fabrication lines

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field (Chemical or Materials preferred)
  • Experience in industrial engineering or a scientific discipline, utilizing science and engineering problem-solving methods
  • Experience working in chemical lab environments
  • Strong experience with lithium ion electrode processing
  • Exposure to converting processes
  • Familiarity with slot die, skip coating, and reverse comma coating techniques
    • Experience working with production-level quantities, such as 15 Gallon slurries
  • Experience with powder processing
    • Experience working with production-level quantities, such as 30K Grams
