Coordinate Measurement Machine Supervisor

Location: Cartersville, GA
Our client is a global manufacturer of automotive stamped metal components, currently seeking a Quality Metrology Supervisor for their facility in Cartersville, GA.
Job Summary:
The Quality Metrology Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and operation of all Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) equipment, as well as gage calibration, to ensure that the quality of manufactured products meets customer standards. This includes supervising a team of Team Leads, Engineers, Techs, Operators, and other associates. The supervisor's main focus will be on maintaining the quality systems and ensuring that all processes meet customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
1. Follow established safety rules and regulations.
2. Coordinate actions and activities to improve the quality management system, with the ultimate goal of achieving "zero defects".
3. Provide support to necessary manufacturing operations.
4. Identify quality issues and drive corrective actions to resolve them.
5. Collaborate with other QA staff to implement root cause analysis.
6. Ensure timely creation of data analysis and reports for all parts.
7. Collect and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to identify potential quality issues.
8. Conduct internal training for quality.
9. Communicate customer requirements throughout the organization.
10. Oversee dimensional analysis to ensure accurate reporting of data.
11. Schedule team members to ensure necessary support for production.
12. Support special projects with various departments using the CMM.
13. Make revisions to CMM Programs based on Engineering Changes.
14. Create CMM programs according to customer standards and tolerances.
15. Provide leadership and mentorship to team members.
16. Verify and validate countermeasures and process adjustments.
17. Conduct daily meetings.
18. Follow guidelines set forth in the 5S training.
19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on company needs and skill level.
1. Computer literate.
2. Proficiency in written and spoken English.
3. Proficiency in written and spoken German preferred but not required.
4. Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish preferred but not required.
5. Strong problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills.
7. Knowledge and experience with automotive quality standards, such as ISO/IATF 16949.
8. Knowledge and experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
9. Experience in inspection equipment and techniques.
10. Ability to set up and run CMM using Metrologic X4 Software.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Quality Metrology Supervisor will be responsible for supervising all associates according to the Quality Organizational Diagram. This includes attendance scheduling, monitoring, training, disciplining, as well as providing leadership and support for special projects, revisions to CMM programs, and creating CMM programs according to customer standards and tolerances.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics include exposure to fumes or airborne particles. There may be occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, and the noise level is usually loud on the shop floor. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times while on the shop floor.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of the job include standing and using hands to finger, handle, or feel. There is frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. There may be occasional climbing or balancing, as well as talking or hearing. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with generally Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule. However, there may be times when work outside of business hours, including weekends, is required to meet customer demands.
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Local travel within a 200-mile radius may also be required when needed or requested by a manager.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of two years of prior Metrology lab supervision experience.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Material Science/Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Minimum of two years of prior supervisory/managerial experience.
3. Minimum of five years of prior Quality experience in the Automotive Manufacturing industry (preferred).
4. Experience with Metrologic X4 software.
