CNC Operator

Location: Reading, PA

We are currently seeking a CNC Operator for a full-time position in Reading, PA.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience operating various department machines, such as CNC machines, CNC lathes, cylindrical grinders, milling machines, engine lathe, tracer lathe, crush foam grinder, drill press, EDM equipment, Bridgeport mill, radial arm drill press, measuring tools, and optical comparator
  • Familiarity with reference calibration standards and electrodes
  • Proficiency in CNC programming and the ability to modify CNC programs
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques
  • Understanding of testing procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
  • Positive attitude and strong collaboration skills
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic work environments
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to suggest process improvements
  • Capability to work with various machines and tools in a problem-solving team

Responsibilities:

  • Independently operate department equipment, following testing procedures and guidelines (excluding NDT & RCBs)
  • Operate CNC and other lathes to machine test specimens and parts
  • Set up and use cylindrical grinders to produce low-stress ground test specimens
  • Machine blank samples according to provided blueprints or drawings, documenting necessary information
  • Manufacture, maintain, or machine jigs, fixtures, or parts for the Met Lab or other departmental needs
  • Calibrate movements on milling machines, electric discharge machines, surface roughness indicators, and micrometer sets
  • Read lab travelers and determine furnace utilization
  • Report any out-of-calibration conditions to supervision
  • Take on additional duties and special projects when assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and task prioritization
  • Ability to make independent and informed decisions
  • Capability to operate department equipment with minimal supervision
