Controls Engineer - DeltaV / Honeywell

General Description

Our company is looking for a skilled control systems engineer located in Sugar Land, TX. The responsibilities for this position include programming, system configuration, system documentation, factory acceptance testing, and field start-up and commissioning activities. This role specifically involves working with Honeywell & DeltaV systems, among others.

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience.

· Strong proficiency in programming Honewell and DeltaV Distributed Control Systems with a solid platform experience.

· Excellent knowledge of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC communications protocols.

· Strong understanding of control panels, panel wiring drawings, and field wiring diagrams.

· Thorough knowledge of P&IDs including the ability to develop new P&IDs, review existing P&IDs, and develop Instrument & I/O Lists from P&IDs.

· Familiarity with ISA tagging conventions.

Desirable

· Experience in programming PLCs (preferably Allen-Bradley) and HMIs (preferably Inductive Automation Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX).

· Experience in developing operational and technical manuals, including training guides, HMI manuals, and operating procedures.

· Knowledgeable of Electrical Protection Relays, Historian systems, and external notification systems (text, email, mobile app, etc.).

· Familiarity with DeviceNet and/or Profibus communications protocols.

Responsibilities

· Participate in the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives.

· Contribute to the development and/or review of control panel design packages, field wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, and associated E&I package deliverables.

· Attend field verification and user requirements gathering walkdowns.

· Develop DCS/PLC/HMI programming.

· Execute factory acceptance testing and field start-up and commissioning, including troubleshooting activities.

· Contribute to and participate in client training.

· Provide after-hours support for internal/external clients as required.

· Travel approximately 25% with willingness to travel via air.
