Engineer, Control Systems
Our company specializes in industrial projects within the Refining, Gas & Oil, Pipeline, Renewable, Chemical, and Biopharm Industries, specifically focusing on Automation and Engineering. We are currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer for our office in Gonzales, LA. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and expertise in all areas of control systems engineering, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Position Summary:
The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for configuring, developing, implementing, and commissioning PLC, DCS, and HMI systems. They will utilize their wide-ranging technical knowledge to develop innovative approaches to control systems design and engineering.
Technical Capabilities:
- Holds complete technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
- Performs specialized technical work involving the development of systems engineering, distributive and/or computer controls of processes.
- Establishes fundamental design and specifications for control systems and associated instrumentation.
- Develops new control concepts as necessary.
- Keeps the Project Manager updated on scope changes and deviations from the contract; Submits trend reports for change orders.
- Takes charge of all control system design tasks, including installation drawings and details, loop drawings, logic diagrams, and vendor drawings.
- PLC / HMI Programming:
- Proficient in PLC programming (preferably with Triconex, HIMA, Honeywell SM, Allen Bradley)
- Familiarity with HMI programming (preferably with Wonderware, PanelView, and RSView)
- Knowledge of P&ID’s, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
- Development of test procedures
- Assistance with cutovers/loop checks
- Startup support and troubleshooting
- Operations and maintenance training
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Education:
B.S. in Engineering or a related technological field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
