Manufacturing Controls Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

A well-established company with a dominant market position in manufacturing and a positive work environment is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Technician for the day shift in Union City, GA. The Controls Technician will be involved in designing cells, integrating controls, and installing automated equipment. Responsibilities include configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting controls and other automated systems used in production. The location is in Union City, GA. The position offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime paid at time and a half. Perfect attendance incentive of an additional $1.00 per hour for the week. Company benefits, including a 401K with matching, are provided.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (All duties are essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, unless indicated otherwise.) General duties as assigned.

Level I

  1. Work with pneumatic systems and compressed air principles.
  2. Handle hydraulics and fluid mechanics principles.
  3. Manage electrical circuits ranging from 120 to 480 volts, AC/DC power, and circuit boards.
  4. Assist in building automated equipment in collaboration with engineers.
  5. Test control systems for proper functionality before deployment.

Level II (Includes Level I responsibilities)

  1. Layout and install various plumbing systems, interpret isometric drawings.
  2. Utilize electrical test equipment for voltage, current readings, and ohm testing.
  3. Install and program controls equipment in manufacturing settings.
  4. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with automated equipment.
  5. Diagnose and repair robotic systems utilizing technical knowledge.
  6. Perform equipment repairs and replacements for efficient operation.

Level III (Includes Level I & II responsibilities)

  1. Install air logic controls and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits.
  2. Address PLC system issues using computer interface.
  3. Install, program, and repair programmable controllers and robot controllers.
  4. Utilize fabrication equipment knowledge for maintenance tasks.
  5. Operate and analyze equipment performance in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
  6. Conduct preventive maintenance and repair machine controls as needed.
  7. Train others on equipment installation, operation, and servicing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Level I - High school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of relevant experience.
  1. Level II - High school diploma or equivalent with two to four years of related experience.
  1. Level III - Technical training certificates or associate degree with six to eight years of related experience.
  1. Ability to read, interpret documents, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  1. Strong problem-solving skills and data analysis abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Physical abilities needed to perform job functions, with accommodations available based on need.)

Regular use of hands, standing, walking, reaching, balancing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. are typical requirements.
