2nd Shift Conversion Supervisor

This position is for the 2nd shift.

We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years of experience operating BHS Corrugator machines.

The Conversion Supervisor for this role will oversee the plant employees to ensure that manufacturing and production schedules are met. You will provide guidance to production floor employees in areas such as production, scheduling, performance management, and training. Improving overall operational efficiencies during the designated shift is a key responsibility. This role also involves coordinating production operations, maintaining quality procedures, and ensuring safety regulations are followed in the facility.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the shift with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operators concerning mechanical failures or production issues.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and enforce control procedures, suggesting improvements to the Plant Superintendent as necessary.

  • Coordinate production activities with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective achievement of production goals.

  • Monitor production activities to eliminate waste and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules.

  • Accurately input production data into the system to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) related to efficiencies, downtime, inventory, and overall production.

  • Provide recommendations to improve safety, environmental, and health aspects of the facility.

  • Generate daily reports on shift production and conduct daily shift reviews to evaluate if daily goals are met.

  • Control load factors and workflow to maximize capacity utilization and efficient use of labor, tools, and equipment.

  • Manage and mentor employees, conducting performance reviews and implementing disciplinary actions.

  • Maintain staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and developing employees, creating opportunities for individual growth.

  • Direct maintenance employees in troubleshooting mechanical problems and conducting preventive maintenance.

  • Enforce compliance with plant safety regulations and promote safety consciousness among employees.

  • Ensure daily compliance with all company standards and customer commitments.

  • Provide employees with tools, knowledge, and opportunities for development. Assess training needs, work with employees to create continuous development plans, and provide regular feedback and coaching to support their growth in current and future roles. Foster a culture of teamwork and support.

  • Plan, organize, and monitor work to achieve desired results. Establish a systematic course of action to accomplish objectives.

  • Demonstrate agility, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt approaches to achieve desired results. Respond quickly to changing demands, processes, and information updates.

  • Create and deliver engaging presentations to internal and external audiences. Develop new communication strategies to effectively convey data, insights, and critical messages.

  • Proactively assess and resolve customer issues in a timely manner. Maintain proactive communication with customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Ensure that quality improvements meet the needs and expectations of a diverse customer base. Operate with customers' best interests in mind.

  • Develop short and long-term action plans that align with the organization's vision and mission. Consider business, technical, and operational factors when formulating strategies. Identify and propose solutions to problems with current strategies. Incorporate knowledge of company goals/strategy, as well as competitive, customer, supplier, industry, and marketplace trends into strategic plans. Capitalize on opportunities and manage risks.

  • Plan, design, and manage processes with a focus on refining and improving them for increased efficiency and effectiveness. Understand process inputs, activities, outputs, roles, and sequencing.

Background:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Management, Engineering, or Operations Management) - Preferred

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in the manufacturing of converting products - Required

  • Supervisory experience in the corrugated industry - Preferred

  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
