Job Summary: The Product Engineer is responsible for executing new product project activities in coordination with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager. This position will require working closely with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager, New Products team members, and other departments and groups. Utilization of electrical and mechanical engineering tools and computer modeling skills will be a critical part of this role. The Product Engineer will be responsible for developing concepts for future product platforms that combine electrical and mechanical solutions into electromechanical concepts to meet anticipated company needs.

Job Responsibilities:

Support and complete program and project deliverables to achieve customer and/or company product development goals.

Perform mechanical engineering analysis to support existing products and develop new concepts to improve functionality, reduce costs, increase performance, and simplify manufacturability.

Brainstorm and support innovative new product design using a combination of new and existing materials, production methodologies, and technologies.

Collaborate with all product lines to generate new ideas and concepts.

Conduct research on marketing, technical, economic, and manufacturing feasibility for new ideas.

Support and facilitate program and project management tasks for specific customers, aligning with company product line plan strategies.

Explore different materials, purchased components, and manufacturing processes to support concept development.

Provide design and management support for programs and projects within the Corporate Technology work group.

Collaborate with sales and customers to determine project requirements.

Utilize electrical and mechanical engineering techniques and analysis skills to fulfill design activities and requirements.

Complete design layouts, BOM, and drawing content for recently released products.

Education & Experience:

Proficiency in computer applications required for job functions.

Experience with Creo/Windchill software.

Understanding of Creo and ability to create, update, and finalize models.

Understanding of Windchill and ability to create, update, and finalize Windchill data.

Comprehensive understanding of inertial calculations for external collaboration.

Mid-level understanding of tolerance stack calculations and Six Sigma Design Tools.

Comprehensive understanding of spring stress analysis and mechanics of materials.

Comprehensive understanding of kinematic analysis and basic understanding of GD&T and reliability confidence levels.

Comprehensive understanding of Dept. 111 work instructions and ECN activities.

Understanding of drafting standards and ability to perform ECN and project development print checks.

Basic understanding and ability to participate in cross-functional teams for PFMEA, DFMEA, and DPAR documents.

Basic understanding and ability to support SPMs, Project Engineers, and Product Managers with product ideas and improvements.
