Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Multi-Site Food Production
As the company expands its operations and prepares to open additional manufacturing sites, we are seeking a new leader to enhance our quality systems, ensure food safety, and foster cross-functional accountability. Location: Pleasant Grove, UT – We prefer local candidates; relocation support will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis

Responsibilities
• Assume responsibility for quality and food safety programs across multiple plants, ensuring adherence and standardization
• Provide guidance and mentorship to a junior quality manager, establishing a foundation for long-term team growth
• Enhance and expand written procedures, policies, and documentation to align with regulatory and customer expectations
• Supervise sanitation processes, production checks, and decisions regarding product hold/release
• Analyze performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and collaborate with teams to enhance quality outcomes
• Work closely with plant operations leaders to integrate quality practices into daily operations
• Take ownership of customer-related quality concerns and implement preventive measures
• Oversee vendor approval systems, environmental monitoring, pest control, and internal audits
• Maintain compliance with current food safety requirements, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and third-party audits
• Possess the final authority in product disposition decisions, prioritizing uncompromising quality
• Assist in the establishment of quality programs and procedures in new or expanding facilities

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, engineering, or a relevant discipline
• More than a decade of experience in leadership roles focused on quality or food safety within a food manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of co-manufacturing partnerships and working with major retail customers
• Proven track record in developing or strengthening quality systems in growing production settings
• Experience in managing food safety certification programs such as SQF or BRC
• Ability to develop teams and lead across multiple departments and locations
• Proficiency in sanitation, raw material verification, and in-process inspection protocols
• Excellent communication skills, demonstrating clarity, consistency, and follow-through
• Experience with ERP and quality data systems, coupled with strong Excel skills
