Manufacturing Engineering Director

Location: Stuttgart, AR

The position of Manufacturing Engineering Director is located in Stuttgart, AR. This role is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing engineering and facilities at the plant site. The main objectives include reviewing product design to ensure manufacturability, improving quality and ease of assembly, and reducing assembly and plant operation costs. Collaboration between the engineering team and other manufacturing departments is essential for success. The Director, Engineering reports to the General Plant Manager.

  • Lead the technical organization to achieve technical goals within budget and schedule.
  • Assess product designs for manufacturability and enhance quality and assembly support functions.
  • Manage Manufacturing Engineering to decrease assembly and plant operation expenses.
  • Promote cohesive collaboration between the engineering team and other manufacturing departments.
  • Create and manage the capital budget.
  • Take responsibility for Engineering Departmental financial budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental ISO and SOX requirements.
  • Supervise salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Engage in hands-on project management, coordinating multiple projects with key stakeholders.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, critical paths, and milestones. Perform cost-benefit analysis for assigned projects to evaluate financial, business, and industry impacts.
  • Advise senior leadership on the continuous improvement strategy and the implementation of Lean transformation.



  • Proven track record of success in large, single site industrial manufacturing organizations for at least 10 years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Prior experience in Lean environments, preferably with Lean certification.

Preferred qualifications for top candidates:

  • Extensive experience in CAD or AutoCAD, or related design software.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Prior knowledge or experience with PLC’s.
