As the Director of Procurement and Fleet Management, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and oversee the management and development of sourcing strategies for national and global categories, including materials, assets, parts, and services used in the logistics and transportation industry. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the Category Management Strategy for the entire enterprise, as well as administering the strategic sourcing process. Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing and executing the procure-to-pay process to ensure a streamlined and regulated purchasing process for products and services. Furthermore, you will oversee and maintain the organization's fleet, including the establishment and enforcement of programs, policies, and procedures, such as general and preventive maintenance programs.
- Manage and develop supplier performance, relationships, and agreements for categories, while collaborating with stakeholders to create a competitive advantage.
- Lead cross-functional teams by utilizing historical spend data, market research, and cost modeling to identify and leverage high-value opportunities that provide innovative and sustainable value, operational efficiencies, and risk mitigation.
- Engage with internal business partners to actively involve them in procurement and proposal activities.
- Develop procurement roadmaps that align with the company's objectives.
- Create negotiation strategies for large contracts, work with inside counsel to identify adequate levels of commercial protection, and conduct negotiations to achieve optimal outcomes for the company.
- Maximize financial benefits to the company by leveraging company spend nationally and globally.
- Provide market and opportunity analysis to stakeholders.
- Prepare and negotiate contract terms and conditions for agreements.
- Analyze contract documents to determine contractual obligations and prepare recommendations for acceptance or modifications.
- Identify, evaluate, and select new vendors and services.
- Establish and enforce schedules and procedures for routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company's fleet.
- Collaborate with supervisors and staff to manage and reduce expenses, such as those for fuel and labor costs.
- Create a life cycle management program for assets to ensure safety, reliability, and maximum returns.
- Work with finance and operational teams on the most favorable financial approach for the lease versus buy decision.
- Develop and implement a fleet management system to gain insights into unit-specific maintainability for better assessment of replacement cycles.
- Draft and present reports on department operations and expenses.
- Prepare and implement the departmental budget.
- Develop and enforce procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet services staff.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance or repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong experience with the procurement process, particularly strategic sourcing or category management, is highly desired.
- Bachelor's degree required (a degree in a related field would be a plus).
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, chemicals, and life sciences is preferred.
- Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and effectively monitor and reduce expenses.
- Strong internal partner focus with the ability to build effective relationships and establish trust, respect, and confidence.
- Results-focused with excellent project and time management skills, willing and able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, as needed for business purposes.
