Head of Business Development

Location: Chicago, IL

Our client is a disruptor in the legal and insurance industries, providing innovative services. Born out of demand and thriving in today's virtualized and technological landscape, they are experiencing impressive growth. As a well-funded privately held company, they are seeking a Head of Business Development who can excel in a virtual work environment and is willing to travel as required.

Due to their growth, our client is in need of a Director of Sales to lead and manage an existing team of account executives. The ideal candidate must currently reside in the East Coast or Central Time Zone and relocation will not be provided (no exceptions).


  • Report to the executive team and lead a team of 10+ direct reports
  • Demonstrate prior experience in legal sales and leadership, specifically in court reporting and deposition services, to effectively manage and expand the business
  • Manage and drive sales activities in the assigned market(s), including budgeting and pipeline management, to achieve company sales goals and profitability
  • Develop plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the assigned market(s) to drive sales growth and profitability
  • Take responsibility for the performance and development of the Account Executives
  • Create action plans for sales leads and prospects, both individually and as a team, to enhance effectiveness in the search for new business opportunities
  • Conduct one-on-one reviews with Account Executives to ensure accountability
  • Support the sales and marketing efforts of the team, including coordination of trade shows, catering, networking events, and sponsorships
  • Assist the executive teams in implementing contests, blitzes, projects, and other activities to drive the sales process
  • Administer systems that support the sales process, utilizing Salesforce.com


  • In-depth knowledge of the legal services industry, with experience in sales and sales leadership, specifically selling court reporting and deposition services to law firms and insurance companies
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience, with 4-5 years in managing a sales team
  • Proven track record in growing an existing team of account executives, driving new business development, and achieving organic growth
  • Strong expertise in pipeline management and budgeting
  • Customer service oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills, able to promptly respond to client needs, follow through on commitments, and resolve issues in a pleasant and helpful manner
  • Bachelor's degree
