Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enforce and implement the Company’s environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures, leading personnel and accurately maintaining data/documents in the EHS management systems. Programs include, but are not limited to:
    1. Title V Air Permit
    2. National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Standards
    3. EPA Storm Water Management
    4. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
    5. Facility Response Plan / Integrated Contingency Plan
    6. All applicable OSHA and consensus standards, including NFPA 70E, General Industry (29 CFR 1910 (including Process Safety Management), Construction (29 CFR 1926) and Recordkeeping (29 CFR 1904)
    7. OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
    8. EPA Hazardous Waste Regulations
    9. EPA Risk Management Program
    10. Part 75 and Part 60 CEMS
  • Create, review, and submit required regulatory reports for the site with appropriate oversight.
  • Act as the site’s point of contact with regulatory agencies, ensuring a positive, collaborative, and responsive relationship is maintained.
  • Develop expertise in managing the site’s Continuous Emissions Monitor and Data Acquisition and Handling Systems, serving as the primary interface to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Generate required reports with oversight, ensure data accuracy, work with the OEM to make corrections when necessary, and ensure timely submission of required reports.
  • Assist in establishing site goals and objectives and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure consistent application of the Company’s EHS compliance mission.
  • Contribute to the plant's OSHA VPP Star program participation and good standing by fostering continuous improvement in safety and health programs, systems, and safety culture.
  • Provide "hands-on" assistance to operating personnel to ensure EHS compliance and support the site in making physical and process improvements that can reduce compliance risks while minimizing operating expenses.
  • Participate in incident and near miss event investigations using root cause analysis methodology. Contribute to the development, implementation, and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Take part in site regulatory and internal audits as required.
  • Stay updated on new and changing regulatory requirements related to EHS compliance at the site.
  • Provide support during off-hours and weekends for events such as outages or emergency response as needed.

Education/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field.
  • Specialized knowledge and experience in Clean Air Act programs and general regulatory knowledge in other areas (e.g., CWA, EPCRA, CERCLA, RCRA, RMP). Familiarity and experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems and related quality assurance activities is highly advantageous.
  • Strong organization, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the plant and corporate organizations.
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and issues simultaneously, performing assigned responsibilities at a high level in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Develop leadership skills, with an emphasis on driving results and strategic thinking and planning.
  • Effective team player with a track record of consensus-building with internal and external stakeholders.
