Electrical Controls Technician
Location: Charleston, SC
This position follows a DuPont work schedule (rotating shifts, 14-15 days off per month, and 7 consecutive days off monthly). Overtime pay is at a rate of one and a half times the regular pay.
Our client, a prominent manufacturer of specialty flat-rolled products, is seeking an Electrical Controls Technician who thrives in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of ensuring safety, quality, and productivity through continuous improvement and technical expertise.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on low/medium voltage motor control systems and Siemens/Rockwell drive systems.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment using PLC interfaces.
- Assisting in the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and contributing to the development of safety and operational procedures.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, comparable electronics training from the military, or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Experience with NFPA 70E/NEC safety standards and the ability to read electronic/electrical drawings.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting involving controls automation, electrical/mechanical repairs, and PLC interfaces.
- Knowledge of PLC logic, industrial automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, and systematic troubleshooting.
