Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Reading, PA



  • Modify and enhance equipment and facility safety designs.
  • Conduct electrical safety investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, document, and improve preventive maintenance programs.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment failures and production loss.
  • Assist maintenance in minimizing downtime and lost production.
  • Supervise and schedule the daily work of electronic technicians.
  • Analyze production delay data and generate continuous improvement projects.
  • Prepare and review equipment failure and root cause analysis reports.
  • Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions.
  • Create work orders for implementing improvement projects or corrective actions.
  • Follow up and audit to ensure proper completion.
  • Coordinate outside contractor work activities to minimize cost and production impacts.
  • Assess critical spare parts and standardize parts.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and training for electricians and technicians.
  • Establish performance metrics to promote continuous improvement.
  • Provide support for problem resolution and perform Project Engineering duties.
  • Fill in for Supervisors or Department Manager as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with planning to schedule extended production outages and major maintenance work.
  • Support the management of the plant maintenance management system.
  • Resolve equipment failures in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.


  • Ability to provide leadership.
  • Expertise in engineering, maintenance, and product manufacturing.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes for forged or flat rolled metal products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn new software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Formal training or experience with Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs.
  • 1-3 years of proven experience in Maintenance Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor roles.
