Electrical Engineering Supervisor

Location: Tampa, FL

Position Overview

The Electrical Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers within the Electrical Engineering department. This role involves overseeing the workload of the team, providing technical leadership, and performing design work on assigned projects. The successful candidate must have strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process and contractual documents.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the workload of the team by assigning projects based on individual capabilities
  • Create electrical system designs, including lighting, power distribution, emergency generation systems, fire alarm, security, or other electrical systems, using software programs
  • Regularly communicate with peers and supervisors to provide project updates
  • Mentor and train less experienced team members
  • Coach and develop team members to support their professional growth
  • Collaborate with the Director to address personnel issues and participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management processes
  • Create cost-effective system layouts, sizes, and specifications and ensure code compliance
  • Prepare BIM drawings and coordinate with other disciplines throughout project production
  • Perform construction administration tasks, such as site observations and shop drawing review
  • Define project scope and manage any scope changes to ensure client satisfaction and project success
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, and code officials
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering management and design of commercial buildings, preferably in aviation, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities
  • College degree in a related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience with various project deliverable methods
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of local, state, and national codes
  • Proficient in Revit MEP and familiar with other engineering software programs
  • Strong technical/computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet, and web applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prepare specifications and evaluate electrical engineering options
  • Experienced in cost containment and reduction approaches
