Electrical System Maintenance Manager

Location: Lemont, IL

The role of the Electrical System Maintenance Manager is to oversee the assessment and enhancement of electrical systems at our Lemont, IL refinery. This position will be responsible for supervising the Reliability Electrical Engineer and collaborating with the Maintenance Electrical Manager and Project Engineering Instrument and Electrical Engineering Manager to develop programs, prioritize tasks, create and execute the Electrical Reliability Budget, contribute to the Capital MTP and Budget for electrical projects, and provide input for the Maintenance Budget regarding electrical expenses and requirements.

The selected candidate will provide leadership and technical support for electrical distribution systems throughout the refinery.

They will also lead the effort in reliability engineering for electrical systems, aiming to enhance availability, reduce maintenance costs, increase MTBF, maximize equipment performance, and develop and implement reliability analysis and programs.

  1. Lead a team of electrical reliability engineers to optimize electrical reliability performance.
    1. Plan and supervise work, deliver training, facilitate collaboration with other departments, establish goals and objectives, and establish performance criteria.
    2. Coordinate and manage engineering tasks and workload.
    3. Select and manage reliability projects and programs, including contractor selection and management.
    4. Collaborate with the Maintenance Electrical Department and Operations to plan and accomplish reliability objectives for the refinery.
    5. Work closely with the Project Engineering Electrical and Instrument Department to secure additional support and resources, provide technical expertise for projects, and generate reliability-based projects through Engineering Work Requests.
    6. Review and select candidates for open positions, conduct performance evaluations, and make performance rating recommendations.
  2. Provide expertise in electrical technology to the refinery. Develop innovative solutions for complex problems. Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to develop reliability solutions for the refinery.
  3. Define the electrical reliability goals, programs, and project privatization in collaboration with the Manager of Reliability and the Maintenance Electrical Department Manager.
  4. Contribute to the Reliability Department budget and effectively manage the assigned area's budget, which includes all aspects related to the electrical department.
  5. Ensure that the expectations of the Electrical Group are met.
    1. Lead and facilitate root cause failure analysis.
    2. Conduct life cycle cost analysis for design modifications and metallurgy upgrades, and provide recommendations to management.
    3. Offer technical input for maintenance, repair, and replacement specifications.
    4. Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, increase availability, and reduce costs.
    5. Provide technical input for capital project design basis and support the development of project options.
    6. Support Operations by addressing reliability needs and emergency situations.
    7. Provide technical and leadership support for plant turnaround efforts.
  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  2. A minimum of eight (8) years of electrical engineering experience in a processing facility, preferably in a refinery, petrochemical, or chemical plant
