SUMMARY:
We are seeking an energetic, talented individual to join our team as an EMT. In this role, you will respond to emergency situations, providing skilled emergency and non-emergency services in various areas including emergency medical and rescue operations, basic medical assistance, mentoring, training, quality improvement, public education, and recruitment.
As an EMT, you will be responsible for supervising and providing care to patients in the pre-hospital environment. This includes performing critical basic procedures according to medical protocol and offering independent support in life-threatening situations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer basic life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in the pre-hospital environment, following federal, state, and local laws, protocols, regulations, and standards.
- Safely operate emergency ambulances and other light-duty emergency medical response vehicles, responding to emergency and non-emergency transports as directed by the Communications Center.
- Attend classes and engage in activities necessary to familiarize and maintain familiarity with proper practices and procedures of emergency medical services, ensuring efficient delivery of services.
- Assist in the rescue and extrication of victims involved in accidents or sudden illness using appropriate rescue and medical techniques.
- Communicate with additional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions for further treatment or arrange patient reception at the appropriate center.
- Respond to emergency calls promptly and professionally, providing high-quality patient care.
- Complete a full check sheet for assigned vehicle(s) and ensure that ambulances and first response vehicles are stocked, fueled, and ready for the next call.
- Report any day-to-day incidents, equipment malfunctions, or supply shortages in writing to the duty coordinator or supervisor before the end of your shift.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of EMT-B and certification in the State of Ohio, or successful completion of EMT-A and State of Ohio certification.
- Fulfill CME responsibilities as per State Guidelines for certification, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, ASLS, CPR, ITLS, or PHTLS certifications.
- Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator certification.
- Must be 23 years of age or older to drive an emergency medical vehicle.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
The position offers a salary range of $16 to $22 per hour for EMT-Bs and $15 to $17.50 per hour for EMT-As. Additionally, a comprehensive benefit package is included.
