Food & Beverage Facilities Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Nationwide General Contractor for the food and beverage industry with in-house planning, design, and engineering services.

Specialists in food facilities, focusing on operational efficiency. Conduct material handling studies to size and configure processing and storage areas. Provide site search, evaluation, and selection services. Proficient in food safety best practices and food process engineering. Also offer in-house architecture, engineering, and construction services. Understand process flow, adjacencies, and material balance. Deliver value engineering and open book pricing. Proven track record of securing high 6 figure utility company rebates and completing projects ahead of schedule and under budget.

Responsibilities:

- Define project program requirements.

- Assist in developing project layout.

- Estimate project cost.

- Prepare preliminary subcontractor scope of work.

- Secure preliminary subcontractor pricing.

- Prepare scope of work / proposal to Owner.

- Negotiate contracts.

- Network within the food industry and attend trade shows.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.

- 3+ years' experience in the construction planning of food/beverage or Pharma manufacturing facilities.

- 1+ years' experience in Technical Sales, desired.

- Previous experience in Process, Project, Industrial, Mechanical, Facility, Maintenance, or Production Engineering, desired.

- Knowledge of food processing design, flow, and processing equipment.

- Familiarity with basic utility requirements and food safety design and procedures.

- Understanding of general contracting.

- Ability to perform quantity take-offs of materials needed for estimates.

- Experience writing proposals, negotiating commercial agreements, and troubleshooting customer issues.

- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Publisher is a plus.

- Projects are located throughout the US. Travel required: 3 nights a month.

- Salary Range: $115K - $130K, Bonus Range based on Project Profitability: $10K - $180K, 50% of health and dental expenses covered by the company, Life / Disability insurance, 401K matching up to 3% of salary, Home Office, $500 Monthly Car Allowance, gas card, travel expense, and vacation.
