Salary: $60-90K plus bonus

Job Summary: The position of Environmental Health Safety Specialist involves overseeing and maintaining safety, health, and industrial hygiene programs at our Iowa facility. Key responsibilities include maintaining and improving safety, ergonomic, and health programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, and coordinating environmental, fire safety, and security protocols.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and refinement of plant safety programs, policies, and procedures, including training and compliance with safety regulations and signage.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state OSHA and other enforcement agencies.
  • Monitor and test various work environment issues, such as air quality and noise levels, to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain accurate logs.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide detailed reports with recommended corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to perform regular safety audits and identify potential hazards.
  • Conduct routine safety walks to address concerns and gather feedback from employees to promote a safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and activities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for manufacturing employees.
  • Act as a liaison between manufacturing staff and safety management.
  • Participate in the development and execution of emergency response procedures.
  • Provide support during emergency situations to ensure the safety of all personnel.
  • Assist with assigned tasks related to environmental matters, such as air quality and waste management.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Prior experience in safety, health, and environmental disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of plant safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws.
  • Strong commitment to safety with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
