Metal Fabrication Specialist

Location: Fort Wayne, IN
This position for a Metal Fabrication Specialist is located in Fort Wayne, IN and will provide support to the Industrial Engineering Department through the following responsibilities:
Job Duties:
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards at all times.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and validate various types of tools.
  • Create fixtures for assemblies based on sketches and/or prints.
  • Produce parts based on sketches and/or prints.
  • Interpret drawings to determine the tolerances for parts and fixtures.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide expertise in assembly processes and tooling validations.
  • Operate precision machinery when necessary.
  • Write and edit programs for precision machinery.
  • Ensure precision machinery is in proper working condition and calibrated.
  • Determine program requirements based on design and engineering specifications.
  • Possess the ability to cut and weld stainless steel and carbon steel.
  • Create the required form geometry for forming tool designs and fabrication.
  • Adapt to changing tasks with short notice due to business requirements.
  • Adhere to standard work instructions (SWI).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow 5S standards.
  • Provide suggestions for optimized solutions and identify potential tooling or production issues.
  • Aid in achieving team performance goals and objectives.
  • Follow Quality/Environmental documentation, including SWIs, forms, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Comply with company rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Be available for overtime and/or weekend work as required.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.
  • Contribute to achieving quality and management objectives by producing products that meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Comply with all Quality Management Systems, Environmental Management Systems, and support operations in Mexico as needed.
  • Participate in plant recycling programs.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2 years of experience in tube bending.
