Job Description: Bridge Engineer

Overview

The Bridge Engineer provides support to the engineering team, Superintendent, and Project Construction Manager in managing field operations and project administration for construction projects. This position is primarily focused on coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and maintaining documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in pre-construction tasks such as planning, analyzing designs, and interpreting drawings.

- Understand and interpret specifications, subcontractor/supplier scopes of work, and industry standards.

- Enforce company safety policies and promote a culture of safety.

- Interpret designs and specifications to facilitate quantity takeoffs.

- Create drawings and sketches to support construction activities, change orders, and cost estimates.

- Verify quantities of work completed for invoicing and payment purposes.

- Manage the submittal process, ensuring timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings.

- Ensure accurate recording of craft time cards, including hours, tasks, and cost codes for purchasing, contracts, and equipment.

- Maintain as-built drawings and update documentation as needed.

- Track and manage requests for information (RFI) logs.

- Participate in reviews of constructability and value engineering.

- Develop and implement project engineering procedures, and maintain relevant documentation.

- Capture weekly photographs of the jobsite.

- Collaborate with the Safety Department to ensure accurate project safety records.

- Support quality control activities.

- Assist in preparing project status reports, attending meetings, and drafting meeting minutes.

- Contribute to project closeout activities.

- Provide support for cost estimates as needed.

- Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical training and experience.

- 3 years of experience preferred; 0–2 years of field construction experience acceptable.

- E.I.T. certification preferred, but not required.

- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and at least 2 years of experience with MS Project.

- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Experience with CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.

- Familiarity with document control software (e.g., Procore, Fieldwire) is a plus.

- Basic understanding of cost analysis.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to relocate to Fargo.

- Physical ability to lift, stand, walk, use hands, and carry materials as needed.
