PVD Field Technician

Field Service Engineering Technician (PVD)- San Jose, CA
Our client, a leading provider of digital imaging solutions in the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean, is seeking a Field Service Engineering Technician to support their Semiconductor business in San Jose, CA. This position involves providing technical support for high vacuum equipment used in the PVD process and related robotics.
This position is based in San Jose, CA and requires candidates to reside in the area.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, inspect, set up, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor process equipment to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement solutions.
- Collect data on software-related issues and communicate with global headquarters.
- Document all maintenance activities and provide field service reports.
- Install equipment control software and maintain revision history records.
- Participate in equipment installations at customer sites.
- Monitor stock levels of service parts and ensure adequate inventory for repairs.
- Provide training and support to other technicians.
Qualifications:
- AS degree required, Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience with PVD or semiconductor vacuum equipment.
- Candidates without AS or BS may be considered with equivalent experience.
- Experience with multi-chamber cluster systems and robotics preferred.
- Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLC and other software applications is a plus.
- Ability to work independently following on-the-job training.
- Strong analytical skills for problem analysis and resolution.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and lift approximately 50 lbs.
- Bilingual communication skills (Japanese/English) helpful but not required.
This is a full-time position paid hourly, ranging from $33.37 - $49.98 per hour. Overtime is available.
