Salary: $65-75K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Field Service Technician:

We are seeking a highly independent and customer-oriented Field Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing skills, be comfortable working directly with customers, and have the ability to make product improvement recommendations to the Engineering team in the Product Development Group. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications of the Field Service Technician:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Field Service role with decision-making responsibility
  • Certificate or degree in Electronics or Electrical
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time (domestic and international)
  • Proficient in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLCs
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
  • Proficient in Windows environment and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Clean driving record
  • No fear of heights

Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is required. Experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly preferred. Candidates must also currently hold or be able to obtain a valid passport for international travel.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician:

  • Frequently engage with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors
  • Coordinate site inspections and participate in start-up and commissioning activities
  • Ensure timely response to customer inquiries
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment onsite and remotely
  • Repair equipment at customer facilities
  • Perform routine inspections of existing system installations
  • Ensure proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities
  • Travel to customer sites for final commissioning and equipment demonstration
  • Clear and sign-off punch list items
  • Participate in project and construction meetings
  • Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel
  • Resolve technical issues on-site and provide subsequent support
  • Coordinate customer site visits and travel arrangements
  • Provide direct technical support for testing and field service activities
