Remote Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Position: Remote Fire Protection Engineer

(This position is remote but requires you to be located in the Central US to travel to project sites)


  • Conduct observations and inspections of losses caused by fire or failures in fire protection systems
  • Collect and examine data at the site of a loss
  • Document evidence and other findings from investigations
  • Photograph damage and evidence related to fires or losses
  • Provide analyses of system failures
  • Research and write expert reports
  • Interview witnesses, property owners, and building occupants for information during investigations
  • Testify in court cases involving investigated losses


  • Strong understanding of the scientific method and its application to loss investigations
  • Stay updated on the requisite knowledge related to fire investigations in NFPA 1033
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Physical ability to navigate fire scenes, crawl, climb, and use ladders
  • Capability to analyze loss sites and develop a list of potential failures
  • Knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems


Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Fire Protection Engineering. Professional Engineering Registration is required. 4-6 years of experience preferred.
