Part-time Manager of Grants and Compliance Accounting

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Our client, an organization driven by its mission and constantly adapting to change, is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Manager of Grants and Compliance Accounting. This position is part-time and based in Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our grant programs, ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations and maintaining a smooth flow of funding processes.

Key Responsibilities: As the Manager of Grants and Compliance Accounting, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the entire lifecycle of our grants, from developing and submitting proposals to monitoring and ensuring compliance, in order to facilitate a seamless process.
  • Reviewing and understanding grant terms and conditions thoroughly to guarantee compliance with funding source guidelines.
  • Creating and managing grant budgets to align with organizational objectives and ensure accuracy.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and producing timely quarterly financial statements.
  • Coordinating with auditors to complete the single government audit, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and financial standards.
  • Monitoring grant spending to ensure alignment with budget projections and guidelines.
  • Collaborating with sub-grantees to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with US private foundation regulations and Indian FCRA laws.
  • Reviewing and coordinating legal documents such as grant agreements, sub-award agreements, and service contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
  • Taking on additional duties as necessary to support the smooth operation of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience: The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with expertise in general accounting, budget development, grants management, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of 2 C.F.R. 200 (Uniform Guidance) and its application in a nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • A resourceful, adaptable, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to efficiently resolve complex issues.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of compiling and analyzing data to create clear and concise reports.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software, ideally Sage Intacct or a similar ERP system.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace tools.
