Heavy Civil Equipment Technician

We are in need of an experienced
Heavy Civil Equipment Technician
to carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance tasks on heavy construction equipment in different field environments. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in repairing and troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, powertrain, and engine components of heavy machinery.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Transport service truck to project sites to perform maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, track hoes, and other heavy highway construction machinery
- Perform a variety of skilled tasks including inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of general heavy construction equipment and heavy trucks
- Conduct welding tasks for equipment repairs as required
- Operate a crane to facilitate maintenance and repair work
- Read, comprehend, and complete service-related documents and paperwork accurately and promptly
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities
- Maintain a clean work vehicle and work area to promote a safe working environment
- Utilize extensive knowledge of the construction industry, including operating and repairing heavy equipment
- Interpret specifications and manuals to guide repair and maintenance tasks
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
- Safely use hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
- Effectively communicate with vendors, supervisors, and equipment operators
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of equipment safety protocols
- Perform any additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic, preferably in a field setting
- Able to lift, push, pull, and move up to seventy (70) pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending in various environments
- Must have personal hand tools
- Capable of engaging in high levels of physical activity and performing strenuous, hands-on tasks
- Manual dexterity to effectively use tools and manipulate small components
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication
- Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry concepts, and Construction Math skills (e.g. calculating rate, ratio, and percent)
- Valid driver's license for occasional, required travel
- Aptitude for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, dealing with both abstract and concrete variables
- Physical capability to navigate minor obstacles at construction sites on foot
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
