Human Resources Specialist

Location: Morgantown, WV

An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic and results-oriented HR Specialist to join our thriving team. In this key position, you will play a central role in shaping the employee experience and providing comprehensive HR support throughout the entire employee lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Benefits & Wellness: Oversee and manage employee benefits, leave of absence, and accommodation programs. Ensure smooth handling of worker’s compensation, unemployment claims, and employment verifications by collaborating with vendors to address benefits-related issues.
  • Payroll & Compliance: Take charge of precise payroll processing, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, maintaining accurate records, and promptly resolving any payroll discrepancies.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Lead the onboarding process, conduct new-hire orientations and exit interviews. Maintain accuracy and compliance in HRIS data entry and perform regular audits.
  • Talent Acquisition: Drive the entire recruitment process from start to finish, including creating compelling job postings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, conducting background and reference checks, and extending job offers.
  • Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to protect our organization against compliance risks.
  • HR Projects & Initiatives: Contribute to meaningful HR projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the employee experience, such as performance management, employee engagement, and training and development.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake additional duties as required, supporting the broader HR function and fostering a dynamic workplace.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education & Certification: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. While SHRM or HRCI certification is desirable, it is not mandatory.
  • Experience: At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in an HR role, with a solid foundation in HR operations and a thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software. Experience with payroll administration is a plus.
  • Independence & Teamwork: Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Organization & Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, and key stakeholders.
  • Physical Requirements: Capable of performing light work, including occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds, as well as engaging in repetitive tasks that require manual dexterity, visual acuity, and other physical activities as needed.
  • Office Skills: Comfortable operating standard office and computer equipment.
