Location: Hartford, CT

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Hartford, CT. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing various core HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, compensation management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct end-to-end recruitment processes, including candidate sourcing, screening, scheduling in-person interviews, conducting background checks, and issuing offer letters to successful candidates.
  2. Manage all administrative tasks related to onboarding, orientation, and exit interviews, ensuring accurate data entry into the HR Information system and compliance with policies and regulations.
  3. Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with employment requirements.
  4. Field internal inquiries and complaints from employees across different organizational levels.
  5. Provide support for the company's performance evaluation program, including coaching and training managers on evaluation techniques and goal development.
  6. Assist department leadership in managing and tracking employee disciplinary actions, offering guidance and counseling to managers prior to implementing such actions.
  7. Handle employee relations issues of intermediate complexity.
  8. Assist in the planning and execution of HR initiatives and projects.
  9. Coordinate, support, and clarify company policies and philosophies, ensuring consistent application of the employee handbook and policies.
  10. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  11. Foster a positive and open work environment where employees feel comfortable expressing concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience, specializing in Recruiting and Employee Relations.
  • Strong problem-solving, reporting, and analytical skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a deep understanding of ethics, cultural awareness, and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Resourceful and proficient in HR procedures and policies.
  • Preferably, SHRM, PHR, or SPHR Certification or equivalent training and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and standard processes, including ADA/ADEA/FMLA/FLSA/Title VII/EPA/Investigations and Harassment, OFCCP, AAP/EEO-1.
  • Prior experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in managing workplace investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to coach and counsel employees at all levels of the organization, establishing positive relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven self-motivation and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed (approximately 15% annually).
