About the Company:
Our client is a well-established and stable manufacturer located North of Pittsburgh. They are currently seeking a Human Resources Specialist to manage all aspects of HR. This role requires a hands-on approach and a willingness to tackle tactical work.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance on employment laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices to CEO, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
- Act as the main Company representative during Agency interactions and Unemployment Hearings.
- Manage employee relations activities and actively work to prevent unionization.
- Stay updated on government regulations including FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, etc.
- Ensure Company compliance with employment-related policies and state/federal laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with Director of Compliance on workers' compensation and safety initiatives requiring employee relations support.
- Assist Director of Compliance as a backup in matters of injury management and Workers' Compensation.
- Handle retention activities such as stay interviews, exit interviews, and coordination of employee separation notices.
- Coordinate and oversee benefit-related audits, including dependent and claims audits.
- Oversee the background check and drug screening process and manage vendors.
- Provide employee policy, performance management, and compliance training and support to supervisors/managers.
- Counsel managers on employee performance or behavioral matters, including recommending corrective action, performance improvement steps, disciplinary action, and termination.
- Consult employees and retirees to address benefit questions and resolve issues related to access to or payment of benefits.
- Assist in coordinating and analyzing annual benefit renewals.
- Administer retirement plans, including the 401k, defined benefit, and ESOP.
- Prepare and publish required Federal and State disclosures and ERISA documents on the company Intranet, as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of Human Resource practices and concepts.
- Familiarity with various HR field concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to handle complicated tasks and rely on experience and judgment to achieve goals.
- Working knowledge of Training, Performance Measures, Recruitment and Staffing, Employee Relations, Human Resources Information Systems, etc.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with Directors and C-Suite leadership to align executive objectives with HR deliverables.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, or equivalent.
- Willingness to comply with personal protection equipment requirements.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to understand and apply work-related documents such as procedure manuals.
- Ability to meet job-related quality standards and methods.
Previous Experience / Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-10 years of generalist HR experience with a focus on employee relations.
- HRIS experience required.
- Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP and/or Master's Degree in HR or related field.
- Prior HR management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
