HVAC Systems Testing Engineer
Location: Meriden, CT
Our client is in search of a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to provide support in the commissioning process of mechanical and electrical systems, which includes HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power, lighting, and building envelope systems. The essential function of this role is to ensure that all systems are installed, tested, and fully operational before they are transferred to clients.
Qualified applicants should possess experience in controls, testing and balancing, or MEP construction/engineering.
Primary Duties
- Project Planning:
- Collaborating with project managers and design engineers to develop commissioning plans, inspection checklists, functional testing sheets, and schedules.
- Reviewing proposals, specifications, and requirements to gain a clear understanding of project needs.
- Testing and Inspection:
- Inspecting installations to ensure they meet design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Conducting or overseeing functional and performance testing of systems and equipment.
- Documentation:
- Preparing detailed commissioning reports, checklists, and documentation.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of test results, issues, and resolutions.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identifying and resolving issues throughout the commissioning process.
- Coordinating with contractors and subcontractors to address and resolve deficiencies.
- Team Collaboration:
- Providing assistance to the commissioning team during the design, construction, and warranty phases.
- Coordinating internally and externally with architectural, engineering, and construction professionals.
Requirements
- Education:
- Preferred B.S. degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field.
- Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems/Controls and HVAC system testing and balancing.
- Knowledgeable in engineering principles and systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel to project sites, as required.
